Chapter Fifteen

I stared at my nails, cursing the stupid waitress for tainting them with her spilled blood. The bitch deserved to die. Not only was she fucking the man I wanted, but she was in my way. I was done envying her for being his plaything. Now that his toy was gone, he had no choice but to fuck me. I’d gladly wait him out until his dick couldn’t take the celibacy anymore. The man would cave eventually. He didn’t strike me as the type of guy that waits for sex.

I wonder how many women he’d been with before me. Thinking about all the open-legged sluts dropping their panties for Damien Valentine had me wanting to slit all their throats. Nobody fucks with Neryssa Carmichael’s things and gets away with it. And that’s what he was—a thing. A thing I wanted. A thing I could play with. A thing that nobody but me would ever touch again.

When I wanted something, I got it, and I was determined to make that big beefy man all mine. It was all part of my plan. Seduce the kidnapper with my budding virginity, allow him to slice the hymen with his massive sword, then get the fuck out of here when I had him distracted. Even though he was easy on the eyes, there was no way in hell I was going to stay in this cell another minute longer. Nope, I’m going to escape the first time I get a chance.

He returned a few hours later, holding a black body bag over his shoulder. He paused in the doorway, staring at me with a strange look in his eyes.

I had barely looked at the waitress since I took her life. I didn’t need to look at her to know she was dead. I had her death engraved in my brain, enjoying every second I stole from her life. I was sure no one would miss her.

Hell, she’d been down here as long as I had, and I didn’t notice her having a cell phone or any contact with the outside world. Did she quit her waitress job? Would her employer come looking for her?

“Did you have a nice chat with her?” he asked, throwing the body bag on the ground.

I glanced down at her body before glaring at him. “I don’t chat with dead bodies, thank you.”

He chuckled. “You won’t talk to your victims, but you have no problem taking her life?”

“She was in my way.”

“How?”

I chewed on my next words carefully, wondering if they would ignite the fire I knew was smoldering behind his confused gaze. “She was taking away your attention—attention I wanted.”

He remained quiet as he pulled her body into the bag. Most of her blood was already seeping into the cracked concrete of the floor. He’d need a lot of bleach to clean that shit up. When he was done zipping her up, he turned to me, blood coating his massive hands.

“Why do you care where my attention is?
